to self host or not to

im thinking about self hosing should i try to self host a instance of this site or no and how much memory would this take up after a years worth of use

A dead text board won't take any resources even after years of use.

This place is pretty good

I think text wont consume too much data. The problem will be usage and traffic. But to get the level of traffic 4chan has it will be difficult or even impossible. It's a good pet project to practice. Do it in Haskell and use a plain text file instead of a DB. Cheers
